Fattyspice the Chambersburg artist on the come up
Everyone say hello to 21 year old artist “FattySpice”. Soon to be one of you favorite artist out of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Where’d you get the name “FattySpice”?
“Fattyspice would be my name if I was a spice girl.”
How long have you been into drawing and what does art mean to you?
“I’ve been drawing since I’ve been able to hold pencils really just always doodling. Art for me can either have a ton of meaning and show emotion or no true meaning at all.”
What does your work aim to say?
“I just want others to look at my work and be wowed”
What made you wanna pursue art?
“I like being able to show others my work and how everyone’s reaction is different and hopefully inspire others”
How do you seek out opportunities?
“I usually just roll with the punches and let opportunities come to me but I just try to get my work out on social media or on clothing and most times someone will fuck with my art enough to make a request.”
How have you developed you career?
“I’m actually still developing my art career since I’ve thought about other ways to get my name out like doing makeup or starting a clothing line but since both things depend on my creativity as an artist I’m certain this is what I want to do”
How do you handle classifying and categorizing artwork?
“ I categorize my art work by what medium I used to create it”
Do you plan to pursue other styles of art such as digital?
“I certainly would like to start doing digital art”
Do you look up to anyone in the field? If so who?
“I don’t really look up to just one sole person. I admire every artist’s work no matter what style or medium”
What’s your favorite style of art and why?
“My favorite art style has to be renaissance ! It’s so godly to me and so beautifully detailed”
What do you think attracts people to your art?
“I think people are attracted to how ‘clean’ my artwork is in regards to simplicity”
Do you ever go through a “writers block” and if so how did you get past it?
“Usually whenever I have blocks I’ll force myself to sketch things or just go outside and go to the store or on a walk hopefully seeing something that will inspire me”
What would be your advice to other artist out their trying to get into the feild?
“My advice to other artist is to never doubt yourself. Just because you aren’t where you want to be with your work at the moment doesn’t mean you’ll never get there. Everything takes time.”
What does your parents think about you perusing art?
“My parents love that I’m finally taking my art seriously and are proud of me and my progress”
What are some ways you’d work with artist?
“I would really like to give someone a drawing and see how they build on it and add their style. I just hope my collabs show the other artists strong points as well as mine and really be cohesive and just over the top wow factor”
What’s your end goal when it comes to your work?
“My end goals is to be a full time artist”
What are your plans for 2020?
“I don’t have any specific plans for 2020 yet other than to be better everyday at what I do”
