Interview with Caution
Welcome 25 year old upcoming artist Christian Brudie better known as “Caution”. Coming out of cherry hill, New jersey with his latest hit “Cockiness” that's been racking in the streams lately.
How’d you get the stage name Caution?
“ I started out producing in late 2014 but was always writing on the side. With all the things I've seen as a young teenager and growing up in my situation , I saw a caution sign one night and it hit me, someone whos a creative mind like myself and is appealing but I have been through more than your average teenager.”
Did you have any other stage names before that?
“Sort of, more so after with my alter egos. Before Caution I used a name that was a nickname in High school called Brudz lol terrible. Although now, alter egos are my thing, Caution aka Tony Stark aka Doc Slip aka Young Gambino.”
How was it growing up in New jersey?
“As a kid before high school it was normal, my family wasn't so much but no ones family is perfect. As I got further into high school and my brother was doing drugs , my mom and dad splitting up over it among other things, seeing him OD multiple times, it was hard and weirdly numbing. I was always trying to look for acceptance after high school, especially when I was working 2 jobs and trying to support my dad and brother. It was hard and really toxic for me where I was living and growing up, had a lot of negativity, fake love and friends in my life at the time wanting me to lose. Then I finally thought its time for me to put myself first and love myself again. After my aunt passed I knew it was time to leave, I wanted people to see me for me not see me for what I've been through. screw what people think, I was heavily judged at a young age just cause of who my brother was. But music and moving to Florida helped me. I learned self love, how to be a man, and haven't looked back.”
What’s as it like writing “Cockiness”?
““Cockiness” started out as a beat more rugged and Wu Tang style so I left it as an instrumental. This beat as time went on, spoke to me and I felt this chip on my shoulder when just rapping to myself. Once the process began it felt magical. But a lot of people don't know I wrote the first verse almost 2 years ago, and the last verse about 10 months ago. So the flow, lyrics , delivery, all pretty old but rugged and raw to me. Cockiness gave me the breakthrough I needed for myself confidence.”
Did any artist influence your style? If so, Who?
“Ahh lol, this is where it gets fun for me. Being such a hip hop head, of course Eminem was a huge impact on my life , the way he makes a whole sentence rhyme while still telling a story but using the right syllables is remarkable. Method Man and WU tang really influenced my style , the cypher spitting straight bars telling a story and The RZA , Dr Dre, Mac Miller, 50 Cent, Lloyd banks, Kendrick, J cole, Nas, Jay Z, Weezy, and Schoolboy Q. Em truly inspires me every time he drops a new verse, also Mac millers darkness I relate to heavily, and Lloyd Banks ruthless raw flow with his punchlines make me want to grab a pen.”
What are your goals before 2020 ends?
“Have my next single “The One” playing everywhere possible, its different than most things I've released. This gives off a laid back Mac vibe , about instead “the wrong girl”, I'm writing about the “right one”. Next goal is to get all my songs prepped for an official Itunes EP release, so hopefully have the promos out by December. Keep on helping my family with money and become the biggest rapper and producer in the GAME! Cause its CAUTION SEASON🤟🏻⚠️ .”
