Interview with Doniar Duffel
A 22 year old upcoming artist named Anthony D Wesley better known as Doniar Duffel. A artist from Yonkers NY who’s been making a name for himself with his latest hit “IM REALLY LIKE THAT”.
Where did you get the stage name Doniar Duffel?
“Well one day it was me, rod wave , shad chase millions which is rod wave older brother chilling in my aunts crib just rapping working on music, and we stopped and just started praying that one day we make it Big so we can take care of our people’s , so I started to reminisce about my life to em, and I got to telling them that, all my life my mother gave me a hard time like I felt like she ain’t love me like she loved her other kids she used to punish me, whip my ass, talk down on me ,Kick me out the crib and everytime she kicked me out the only thing I had to my name and in my hands was a duffel bag that I held on for dare life , that duffel bag held a lot of pain , hopes , dreams, tears, and sacrifices . I carried that duffel bag all the way from NY to FL , so that’s how I came about the name duffel. NOW the doniar part came with how I treated myself and how I wanted to be treated and that was like a king , DONIAR. doesn’t have a dictionary meaning but to me DONIAR means royalty , A king , A God , Pure Gold , Heaven , because that’s how I treat myself and that’s how I expect to be treated by any female and anybody in the streets. So that’s how DONIAR DUFFEL came about.”
What was it like growing up in Yonkers NY?
“ I can’t lie it was hard as hell , it’s a dark cloud over Yonkers there ain’t no making it out because there’s so much hate and negativity just chilling with someone brings you bad vibes . But I can tell you I’m one of the known people in Yonkers who all the girls like , or get mad over , I’m one of the niggas that niggas hate , idk why ig it’s the way I carry myself how I smile dress rap talk handle shit Idk it is what it is i still love my city . Everyday me and swing furr which is my main man that’s my brother right there we been thru the mud puddle we been thru the trenches the sewers anything you can name me and Furr done been thru it or did . We was hitting a lic everyday on somebody . And you would just sit there and laugh it up with us cause we was so good at the finesse game you couldn’t believe it was us . And we can be the only people in ya house . That’s how we started the label BNE which stands for Breakin N Entering cause that’s what we do and we don’t give a fuck . But I do wanna give a shoutout to my brothers from the hood without the homies I wouldn’t be where I’m at today , if it wasn’t for Ta Shaun aka Tae , Bama , Ju , the whole warburton shit I’ll probably be in a ditch right now so I salute em ain’t nun but love over here on this side”
What made you want to pursue music?
“To be honest and I tell everybody this , music isn’t something I learned or was taught I was born with a gift that can save my ass when I needed it The most , god blessed me with a million dollar talent , and that was my voice , and my mind . That’s why I’m able to rap on any beat , that’s why I make good songs , that’s why I’m a walking demon ✊🏾 When it comes to music I eat sleep breath this shit , music ain’t me I’m music .”
Did any artist influence your style? If so, Who?
“To me the artist that influence my style was TI and Rich the kid oh i can’t forget about Dave east. Now TI impacted a major influence on my swag and my confidence and intelligence, Rich the kid influenced my drip he taught me how to move like a boss , Dave east sheesh that man influenced the way I talk my shit . He influenced me to talk my shit and get gritty with it”
What was it like writing “IM REALLY LIKE THAT”?
“Oh that’s the question I been waiting to answer , Lmfaoo . Writing I’m really like that took some time cause one the song was actually supposed to be a feature but my mans leeky was playing games and I was on his ass about the song when I first ever heard the beat I died inside and was reborn again . “I’m really like that “ is my baby that’s all me right there when I hear that beat that shit brings the Holy Ghost out of me . When I When I wrote that song I made sure I Crumbled all my pain , hopes, heartbreaks , heartaches, sacrifices, and confidence and expressed it all on paper and laid it on the beat . When I hear “I’m really like that” IT gives me goosebumps, when I die play that song at my funeral and that’s on my baby Ima show y’all a sign that I’m still here.”
What are your goals before 2020 ends?
“My goals before 2020 ends is to make sure melody wesley is set for life I’m literally doing all this shit for her , and only her , she deserves it.”
