Interview With Haru Yatsu

Everyone give a warm welcome to 19 year old Donovan Campbell or better known as Haru Yatsu. Coming out of New york and San diego with the song “Stay at featuring 88glam” releasing soon.

How’d you get the stage name Haru Yatsu?

“I got the stage name Haru Yatsu through my love of Avatar The Last Airbender and now anime. When I started to look for a rapper name I looked up Japanese baby names and one said born in the winter, I was born in April so I looked for born in the spring. That name happened to be Haru, who is also a side character in Avatar: The Last Airbender, which made it easy to get a producer tag from the show.”

Did you have any other stage names beforehand? if so , what?

“I have had no other stage names except DC Don productions, which was used only for song writing and ghostwriting for my friends joking soundcloud page.”

Growing up which was your favorite place New York or San diego?

“I think that I like New York and San Diego for different reasons, but if I had to pick I would go with NY. New York has better and more energy.”

Did they influence ur style at all? if so, which had more of impact?

“I would say that NY definitely inspired my style because it made me a better lyricist, my brother was an engineer who worked with a lot of big artists in the nineties, so lyrics and content have always been a focus of mine.”

What was it like working on Stay at featuring 88glam?

“Stay At featuring 88glam is a song I am releasing with the Canadian group 88glam in the summer. This song has given me so much inspiration and new found confidence, as this group is someone who I look up to for my sound.”

What are your goals before 2021 ends?

“My goals for 2021 are simple, hit 500 monthly listeners consistently, get 1000 instagram followers, and create my first merch line.”
