Interview With LimRick

Let’s welcome 22 year old upcoming music artist LimRick. A Toronto new music artist who’s been coming up in the music scene as of recently.

How’d you get the stage name LimRick?

“I love this question haha the name LimRick is actually a funny story, when I was just starting out in music and I was purely messing around, free-styling at parties and little get togethers with my friends at the time, everyone called me “Lit-Rick” because I was always hyped up and emotional when rapping. When I was discussing possibility of becoming an artist and my current alias with my older brother Theofan, who himself is a very lyrical and poetic person I told him the name “Lit-Rick” and he had the idea to change the t to an m and turn my name into a play on words of the word “Limerick” which I still to this day think is brilliant and love giving him the credit for.”

What’s was it like growing up in Toronto, Canada?

“Growing up in Toronto there was always a lot of competition when it comes to music so of course there was pressure getting into it, I’ve had a lot of hate and a lot of love in my experience but at the end of the day I’m doing what I want and being who I want to be and that’s what makes me happy, but anyways Toronto is cold haha I love the culture here and the vibe I just wish the weather was warmer!l”

Did growing up in Toronto, Canada influence ur style in anyway?

“Being from here has definitely had its influence on my musical style in terms of the people I’ve worked with, I began in music being very lyrical and rap based because I wasn’t aware of my melodic abilities, but working on the beats I’ve been working on and especially the people I’ve been around, I’ve learned that I actually enjoy making catchy, melodic music more then lyrical rap because there’s no better feeling then making people smile and dance.”

What made you get into music?

“I always had the idea in my head of being an artist, ever since I was very young. I looked up to 50 cent and Eminem as the coolest guys ever and it always resonated with me the image and influence that big musicians have. I wanted that, ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to walk into a room or a club and have people trip out and stop what there doing. To me that’s a sign that your doing something right.”

Did anyone inspire you to start making music?

“Yeah for sure, I have so many inspirations it would be hard to name them all. Like I said though, the biggest inspirations and influences for me, the guys who put the bug in my head when I was so young we’re definitely 50 and Eminem. There musical abilities are beyond this earth in my opinion.”

What are your goals for 2021?

“My goals for 2021 are to simply keep growing the brand, keep learning and making connections as we have been. Steady growth is key and I’m extremely excited to drop some of our bangers we’ve been sitting on because people honestly have no idea what’s coming. We plan to continue to release atleast 1 single per month, and when the pandemic eases and we’re able to do shows again. Well that’s when things are going to get really interesting! All I can say is stay tuned because we’re about to make a major dent with the sounds we’re creating.”
