Interview With Nixon Counts
Welcome Nixon Counts is a producer and rapper from Florida.
Is Nixon counts your real name or did you come up with it ? If so what made you choose this as your name to go by?
“My family is from Haiti and growing up they always called me Little President Nixon so that’s where I got my name from. It’s my real name translated into English from French meaning Nixon “The Count”.”
What was it like growing up in Florida?
“It’s a melting pot of fuckery that I love, Growing up in Florida (Broward County) was very difficult because there is a lot of distractions and easy to get caught up in doing stuff your not supposed to. It’s like a typical hood but it’s mixed with a carnival because a lot people like to come vacation here.”
Did growing up in Florida influence your style in what you do?
“There is nothing like the craziness you see in Florida and it powers the energy in my music. It played a big role on this song as the lyrics are inspired from what I see on a day to day basis.”
What was it like engineering the song “Hardly”?
“It was dope as hell, I’ve actually engineered for some very big artist and through engineering I’ve learned things that helped me improve. I’m literally in the studio every single night working and I got an over abundance of people who want me to record them.”
Is this one of your favorite tracks you’ve worked on so far?
“This is one of my favorite tracks because I tried something different here. As a human being I always want to challenge myself in whatever I do and the song came out sounding excellent!”
What are your goals for 2021?
“This summer I will release a project called the “The Nomination” it’s going to shock the world. I will drop music consistently and have a music video ready to release soon.”
