Interview with Nvmitsmarcel

Everyone meet Marcel Leach aka Nvmitsmarcel. A 19 year old rapper from Rahway, New Jersey. With his biggest song being “NOT A HERO” which released this June and latest mixtape titled “Far Yet Close” that dropped December 27th.

How’d you pick the name nvmitsmarcel?

“My name came when I was down. I walked into a room that was meant for someone else that just stuck with me. Been had the name since sophomore year of high school. I flipped the meaning of it as it be some type of oxymoron. When people listen to me, it'll give a lighter tone.”

Favorite part about growing up in New Jersey?

“Living in New Jersey, it’s cold and bipolar. However in my town it’s really unique how it’s centered around the arts. I would move to a warmer place but hey NJ is great for now.”

What made you wanna pursue music?

“Originally, I didn’t. I wanted to be an actor but after a lot of trial and error, I lost interest in it and became more in tune to my music side. In junior year of high school that’s when I started uploading on soundcloud.

What was it like writing “NOT A HERO”?

“NOT A HERO was made when I was going through a lot. I was played by ample amounts of people because I put my heart on my sleeve most times. So in the studio, I let most of it reflecting that I learned from it. Not being a hero means that you can’t really save everyone. I just got a problem trying fix people.”

Favorite song off your recent mixtape Far Yet Close?

“Favorite song off Far Yet Close? SOFTLOCK, CAN YOU NOT?,RECURSION, and EIGHT ON SIGHT. Those songs are fun and also raw to me since it goes off my attitude and personality.

What are your goals for 2020?

“Goals for 2020? Have a cult following whether it be here or in the UK or something. I want to spread and I want to bring my team with me.”
