Interview With Pxsqui

Welcome 19 year old Dominic Pasquale Donofrio are better known Pxsqui with biggest song being “Gifted by Ghouls”.

How’d you get the stage name Pxsqui?

“I created the stage name Pxsqui for a multitude of reasons! It’s expressed as Prosper & Serve Quality User Interface. My name represents the type of music my listeners will hear, « quality ». If they listen close they will prosper and be in service to a higher frequency. The name I use is a truthful way to express my service to a higher power and the greater good of humanity. In many ways it’s similar to the acronym ASAP, always strive and prosper. I serve god and the listener prospers through the music I put out. It’s a win win as long as the lyrics are paid attention to closely.”

Did you have any other stage names before hand?

“I had one stage name before which was IMIQUDE which is an acronym for Intelligent Mofo Internally Questioning Unique Differences Everyday. There is a SoundCloud account I made with 4 singles that were made when I was around 15–16! All very beautiful songs just missing a pro mix and master. “

What was it like growing up in California?

“Growing up in California is great for a number of reasons, it’s helped me grow as an artist because everyday I get to experience a diverse range of culture. San Diego brings great culture, weather and wonderful people. It is still a new and upcoming spot for artist as not many have made it out through music, some that I can think of who did are Rob Stone out of lemon grove and Chantel Jefferies out of Coronado. “

Did growing up in California persuade your style choice of music ?

“I think growing up in Cali gave me the opportunity to hear all different types of sounds from reggae in balboa park to country festivals and all types of hip hop concerts that have came through SD throughout the years. Plus my Father is from Boston so he was always blasting Tribe called quest, krs one, wu tang etc. That’s what gave me my love for that east coast boom nap sound you can hear in some of my older and newer raps. Everyone in my life has influenced me in a way that plays a huge role in how I make my music whether had been good or bad influence, It has all taught me to be a better man. “

What was it like writing “Gifted by Ghouls”?

“Gifted by Ghouls is by far my most intelligently written song yet it’s incredibly simple with natural flavor, it entices the listener to want to hear more in my opinion. Writing it was pretty memorable, when I heard the beat I almost fell into a trance and wrote it in under an hour. The whole song. is just a reminder. to myself and those who listen that the vibes really do be spiritual and we’re all just trying to figure out our own truths.”

What are your goals before 2020 ends?

“My goals before 2020 end are simple, keep making the best music I can make and hope that the right people will listen so I can take my music career to the places I want it to go. I have an undying wish to be in those highest rooms with the greats of hip hop, my influences as of late are Travis Scott, Kanye West, Jay Z, and ASAP MOB.”
