Interview with Svndwn
The one and only 22 artist from Staten Island, New York, Svndwn is here for a exclusive interview with us today. You might know him for his biggest song title “headspace”. He’s soon to be one of your favorite artist.
So how’d you get the name svndwn? Did you have any other names beforehand?
“The name came from me putting an old name to rest, it was like restarting myself in a sense cause I wanted to feel more like an artist and less like me with music attached. My old name was just “Anthony svn” for a few years and I grew to hate it cause I just didn’t feel like the self that was creating these songs.”
What was it like growing up Staten Island, New York?
“Growing up in Staten is not eventful but also extremely eventful at the same time, it could go from a nice chill day to just events on top of events depending on where you lived.”
What was it like writing headspace?
“I wrote headspace after a small hiatus when changing my name to ‘Svndwn’. I was extremely in my head at that point, overthinking everything that I wrote and one night I woke up and just wrote this song cause it helped me put my mind at ease and reset myself if that makes sense.”
Did any artist influence your style? If so, who?
“I was a guest vocalists for my friends band for a little bit so my early influences are like slipknot, paramore, panic at the disco and Dance Gavin Dance . In my solo career it’s been people Joji, JPEGMAFIA, scarlxrd, Raleigh Ritchie, Denzel Curry and juice wrld.”
What are your goals for the rest of 2020?
“In 2020 I just really wanna make more music and continue to just be as honest as I can with the stuff I’m putting out. Also, possibly get a manager but we will see.”
