Interview with Syxteen
Welcome a new 19 year old upcoming soundcloud artist out of Huston Syxteen. A new versatile artist you should keep a eye out for.
Where’d you get the stage name Syxteen?
“I got the name SyxTeen because that was the age I wanted to start making music seriously. It’s always been a part of my life but I never took it seriously. I was 16 when I had some of my best memories and some of my worst. It’s also a reminder when shit gets hard just live like you’re young.”
What was it like growing up in Huston?
“I was really born in college station. We were poor though so we ended up staying with my aunt somewhere, I don’t really remember I was too young at the time. Then we moved to the west side of Houston for a few years until we moved to north Huston. From what I can remember, I use those experiences in my music.”
What got you into making music?
“I got into making music because it made me feel something. I was in a deep depression and suicidal. Music was and will continue to be my outlet to just let everything out. It’s just me speaking into the microphone.”
Did any artist influence your style? If so who?
“I have a lot of artist that influenced my style which is why I don’t even know what to call my own genre. I just make music. I love it and enjoy it. I listen to a lot of X, Ski, 6lack, Bryson tiller, Lil peep, Night Lovell, Juice Wrld, Suicide Boys and Travis Scott.”
What are your plans for 2020?
“That’s a good ass question if I’m being honest. I’m not gonna sit here and try to lie about this and that. I don’t really have any plans, just gonna keep grinding and let the music speak for itself.”
