Interview With Tristen Davies

Everyone give a warm welcome to upcoming 19 year old artist Tristen Davis. Coming out of Raleigh NC with biggest hit song “ello govnor”.

Why’d you choose to use your real name as your stage name?

“I chose my real name as my stage name cause I don’t know how to be anyone but myself. I ran through a whole lotta “lils” and “MC” type names but I ended up with my name. I love my name. My mother gave it to me.”

What was it like growing up in Raleigh, NC?

“Raleigh was a cool place to grow up. you see all spectrums of life. The south side was rough but I moved allot during my childhood. I been to Raleigh, garner, apex etc. everybody thinks Charlotte is the the capital when Raleigh is.”

Did any artist influence your style? if so, who?

“I grew up on 90s. They really influenced me. 2pac is my favorite artist, next to Eminem. Em is a huge influence on how I write. Drake and Jay Z are a big influence on how I deliver. Of course I mess with Kendrick and cole , they really the goats of my generation.”

What made you want to pursue music?

“I started rapping when I was 10. long story short, my grandmothers family is from Liberia, west Africa and she took me over there the year 2012 and I was exposed to so much different type of music . we used to share songs on our flip phones with Bluetooth. I really love music in general. I listen to everything from 2pac to Mozart.”

What was it like writing “ello govnor” ?

“I wrote ello govnor in my college dorm. I heard the beat and I was like woahh. This is hard. I dropped with on my EP “ I Am” and it went crazy. It was at like 10000 streams on Spotify, then Denzel Curry reposted it on his Twitter I knew people were hearing it. Shoutout to Denzel for that.”

What are your goals for 2021?

“My goals for 2021 is more videos and more music. I have a album called “HER” coming out soon. But I really want to build my fan base and try different styles. I’m definitely going to be in a different position a year from now.”
