Interview with Zayotraps
A new artist by the name of Isaiah K. Glenn or better known as Zayotraps has been gaining a lot of attention from his two biggest songs of being “non chalant” and “abc’s”. Be sure to keep a watch out for him and his music.
Where’d you get the name Zayotraps?
“I chose the name for myself like 8 years ago. It’s just how i live my life that’s all I’m gonna say about that but its my name on every social media platform i have from my PS4 user name to my twitter and snapchat. I’m the one and only zayotraps. I was surprised nobody had took that name before the name it was just zay i used to listen to a rapper named hardo so i took the o from that really and got zayotraps”
Did you have any other stage names before Zayotraps?
“No, when i guess you could say branded my self “zayotraps” is when i started making music and actually trying to do something that would influence other people. It’s when i started actively campaigning on instagram doing funny videos and just trying to document my life. What i be doing because i knew and i still know the life style live isn't basic at all. A lot if people wish they could do the stuff i do or at least make the time to do what i be doing my first ever zayotraps account got banned though because of a video i posted at around 7.5k followers i had to wait like a year to get the name back lmao”
What made you want to pursue music?
“ I originally wanted to be an actor but rapping came naturally and I already was doing rapper shit on the regular like driving foreign cars, buying designer shit and playing with the drugs so i just started rapping i always used to freestyle with the homies when we would smoke and drink they said i was good so i guess they gassed me up to get in the studio.”
What was it like writing “non chalant”?
“ I wrote the song one some high shit to a free beat because i was feeling so non chalant at the time. It sounded good i sent it to my video guy Lucas and he really wanted to film that video so i ran with it and the dude aktion twenty birdz got on the song with me he actually has a little buzz in my city so i asked him to get on the song it had an open verse and from there it was just the video we had to wait on , its my most viewed song/video its not a lot if views but its a start”
Did any artist influence your style? If so who?
“ of course i fw gucci mane, i fw soulja boy on some business shit that dude is a money maker. I pretty much listened to every thing that sounded hood from the years 1999–2020 from panic at the disco and missy elliot to the shit now like lil pump, smoke, hood rich, pablo juan if i had to pick a genre it’d be hiphop rap / and Rock i’m not sure the differences between punk rock and heavy metal and hardcore but i fw rock to that shit is the vibe some days”
What are your goals for 2020?
“Honestly to establish my self as an artist this year get my music out there, work with the right people, move forward, get this money, i want a verification badge on instagram. There have been a few fake profiles made of me on ps4 and one on youtube. I think idk how to feel about it flattered or irritated lol”
